Three Cheers to the Ladies and the Queers

Postby Dave » Sat Feb 05, 2005 9:30 pm

Two new beers have been introduced that won't go right to your rose-hips.

In January, Florida inventor/entrepreneur Abby Waters launched her latest endeavor with the introduction of Honey Amber Rose beer, touted as the first beer for women. And just a few days ago a toast was raised to the gays as Queer Beer was launched in London.

Several steps were taken to insure that no visitors to this site will ever drink either beer. Honey Amber Rose is flavored with rosehips and honey and features no preservatives, low carbohydrates and low alcohol content. Queer Beer acomplishes this feat by simply labeling the beer "Queer."

Waters, of Beautiful Brews, Inc., sites roses, passion and her "journey of personal love" as the inspiration for Honey Amber Rose. Queer Beer--perhaps thankfully--has less love in it. Michael Hutmacher of the newly-formed company Lemonhead, says he and a gay business partner were "talking about how to corner the homosexual market and came up with the idea for a drink aimed specifically at gay men and women."

Hutmacher added "our beer is a humorous attempt to identify with the gay scene."

In other gay news (hey, I HAD to research this article you know) a gay wine from New Zealand is flying off the shelves. Pansy Wine is available in Australia and parts of California as well as New Zealand.

Now when is somebody going to make a beer for us men?

Good Lord,
In other gay news (hey, I HAD to research this article you know) a gay wine from New Zealand is flying off the shelves. Pansy Wine is available in Australia and parts of California as well as New Zealand.

I've never heard of or seen this wine before, I'm pleased to say. :D
Local pub here wouldn't dream of having that rose beer in stock, low alcohol beer (ie:, less than 3%) doesn't sell very well here, regardless of what it's got in it.
