The King of Controversy By Belly Buddy David Lauterbach The very first beer I ever had was consumed on the steps of the local high school just around the corner from where I live. A few of us youngins went out one night, no doubt looking to rebel from what we probably thought were oppressive upbringings ("Ya'll don't know what it's like being male, middle class and white"- Ben Folds). The only one of us with any kind of peach fuzz managed to get a few 40oz Budweisers, complete with paper bag cozies. Man that first beer was horrible. Not because it was Bud, but because it was beer. I don't remember how old we were, but thank the good Lord I had the sense to continue drinking until my beer face went away- many, many years later in college. Fast forward to July, 2003. It is American Beer Month in the U.S. The most popular "American" beer is Budweiser. Seems like it always has been, seems like it always will be. But Bud is one of those beers that tends to stir up lots of contoversy when mentioned in beer-snob circles (of which we are often accused of being). The truth is that on a really hot day when you're going to be out in the sun a lot, an ice cold Bud is refreshing as hell, whether or not it is a "good beer." We've given Coors Light, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra their chance to proove themselves in out rating system (er, they didn't do too well) and now it's time to see what you all really think of America's number one selling beer. This post, much like the Coors Light post, is not a review... after all, everyone has tried the King of Beers and you all have an opinion that will not be changed. I am sick of people thinking they are so high and mighty thinking they know all about beer and that the only good beer has to cost an arm and a leg. If people like it then its good, and people buy alot, so that says alot 0 unter den bieren» the wurst fuchen bier 0 Octoberfest» This beer is only consumed by pointless rednecks. The only thing this beer is the king of is piss. I would rather drink piss from a toilet. This beer along with Pabst I would rather die of thirst , then consuming 2 Scrappy» I really used to like Bud & Bud Light. But I was a beer heathen then, unfortunately.
