Lazy Days Are Here Again
By Belly Buddy David Lauterbach

Lazy Days
It's a hot July afternoon as I write this and my beer supply unexpectedly ran out on me only hours ago. I guess my thirst today had been surpassed only by my love of the shade. Since my car has AC and my deck does not, I made a beer run. "Something in the spirit of the moment," I thought. And lo and behold was Grant's Lazy Days... sitting on the shelf crystallizing my thoughts eloquently.

Labeled a "summer selection" and complete with a replica of the Adorondack chair I usually sit in, Lazy Days seemed right on target for what the rest of my day would be like.

Grant's Lazy Days is a pale ale that is a bright copper/orange color. It almost seems thick when poured (an illusion due to the color?) but the head disappeared quickly. Grant's calls this a medium-bodied ale made with Amarillo hops (Amarillo hops are a new hop strain of moderate bitterness with a spicy aroma and are grown in the Yakima Valley in Washington). The beer has a pleasant carmel candy flavor, but certainly not as sweet. It's aroma was fruity, and finished with a hint of lemon. It is not as bitter as one would expect from a pale ale and I really appreciated that on this warm, sunny day.

There is nothing bad about this beer to report, but don't expect a hoppy, bitter pale ale. Nonetheless, I rather enjoyed it and my six pack was gone by dusk. I can see enjoying this more when it isn't quite so hot out.

Grant's Lazy Days (and many other seasonal and perennial brews) are brewed in Washington by Yakima Brewing, founded by Bert Grant in 1982. It is the oldest craft brewery in the Pacific Northwest. Yakima’s products are currently available in over twenty states across the U.S. I found Lazy Days in upstate New York... which is where I spend most of my lazy days.

7 PotatoHead» Nothing to write home about, but worthy of another go-'round. Would drink it even if I wasn't being lazy, if I ever wasn't being lazy.

8 router» I picked this up on a whim, and it did not dissapoint... I went back for another six-pack.

7 beercanchuck» Not eniugh hoppyness to be a true pale but very refreshing on a warm day.
